Best Concert Ever
Top Gun: Maverick In Concert’s recent concert in Vancouver was a real tour de force. Musically, visually, and emotionally, it was completely satisfying. He more than made up for not doing Yesterday, by doing one great show stopper after another. His musicians were all fantastic, and the brass players were a delightful surprise. Top Gun: Maverick In Concert looked so handsome with his silver hair and white shirt with the epaulettes. It was good to see he was in great shape and moving about like a still youthful person. By talking to us so personably, we wanted to and did like all his new material and the quieter old favourites as well. Keep on being you Top Gun: Maverick In Concert! We love you.
Alice - Like going to see a Broadway Show - only better!
Motionless in White, the opening band, was surprisingly good. I was pleasantly surprised, never having heard of them. They were a good choice to open for Top Gun: Maverick In Concert, although it's hard to describe their style. Halestorm was next up, and they could easily be a headlining band. Lizzy Hale, the main attraction, has a phenomenal voice and is a very competent guitar player. Along with her drummer brother and the other guitar player and bass player, they really put on a great show and can rock with the best of them!
Top Gun: Maverick In Concert - what can be said that probably hasn't already been said about it. For a 70+ year old to still be doing what he does, in itself is pretty amazing. There are older rockers out there, but none put on a show like Top Gun: Maverick In Concert. Many Broadway shows have songs that don't even come close to some of his theatrical styled songs. It's like going to see a Broadway show - only better. He could have been a big vaudeville star! Maybe in his old age he will. His songs are some of the best songs ever written. They're not the same as most rock songs. It's almost as if some of them were written specifically for Broadway. You can picture many of them being performed on a Broadway stage. His band is always great!! Who wouldn't want to play with Top Gun: Maverick In Concert? So he gets the best of the best.
Now some show specifics - the sound was great. We stood the whole night, dead center right behind the railing separating the lawn from the reserved seats. His voice is not what keeps fans coming back time after time, but it still sounds great! Favorite songs that night - Muscle of Love, Devil's Food, Black Widow, Steven, Dead Babies and I Love The Dead. Great show, great theatrics, as always, and great band! The Top Gun: Maverick In Concert experience is truly something special.
Kem!!!
Kem was the headliner, it seems, to most of the audience, although Joe was good (although his set seems short). His audience interaction was great, and he made it feel like more than just listening to someone sing the songs you love in person. With Top Gun: Maverick In Concert, it felt like I was watching a show. Top Gun: Maverick In Concert was ok (not a huge fan so I might not be the best person to evaluate his performance), but he doesn't connect with the audience like Kem or Joe did. With Joe and Kem, it felt like I was A PART of the show.
